Burgundy, Barolo and Bordeaux with North Carolina BBQ ....

Really enjoyable variety of wines paired world class hushpuppies, smoked Cheshire pork ribs, smoked Cheshire pork shoulder, smoked beef brisket, collard greens, and coffee with apple hand pies to wrap up (and there may have been an Old Fashioned cocktail or two thrown in there somewhere..... IMO, some form of Bourbon is de rigueur with hickory smoked pork...)...

2000 Canon La Gaffelière Saint-Emilion....
50% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Franc, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon...
Beautiful fruit and very enjoyable now... if you like older Right Bank wines, then you can hang onto this one another 15-20 years.... the aging curve for tertiary development on this should be long.

2004 Francesco Rinaldi Cannubbio....
the most elegantly structured and contemplative wine of the evening ... I'd like to try the 2004 F. Rinaldi Brunate some time for comparison...my favorite wine of the evening...

2009 Pavelot Savigny-Les-Beaune Les Narbantons ....
Beautiful showing.... not as elegant as the 2010 Pavelot SLB Narbantons we had in December 2024... Narbantons is probably my favorite SLB Cru....

2010 Pavelot Savigny-Les-Beaune Aux Guettes...
more elegant than the 2009 Pavelot SLB Les Narbantons... exemplary purity of fruit in this cru and vintage for Pavelot ... my experience is limited with Aux Guettes but I certainly enjoyed this bottle..
