2017 Hofgut Falkenstein Krettnacher Euchariusberg Riesling Kabinett Alte Reben (AP #8)

Yes, this wine is technically too young to drink, but the wines from Erich and Johannes Weber are so impeccably balanced that they are hard to resist.

Weightless deliciousness from old vines sums it up nicely. Slow to open up, but gains momentum with stony grapefruit accented by herbal notes and subtle mint. Somewhat tropical nose gradually unfurls. Lithe, elegant sweetness, almost bordering on halbtrocken. A truly fascinating wine.

Am very glad we have some left over for day two....

Day 2 found a dusty, delicious feinherb character more apparent,  with a tangerine component blossoming on the lengthening finish. Savory salinity completes the picture.

Disclaimer: I'm in the final stages of recovering from a nasty cold, so my tastebuds are still somewhat off...
